V.Unscheduled Business: Resignation of Dr. Robert Malone
Dr. Robert Malone informed the committee of his resignation, effective immediately.
Statement from Dr. Malone (read into the record)
“Hundreds of hours of uncompensated labor, incredible hate from many quarters, hostile press, internal bickering, weaponized leaking, sabotage—I have better things to do.”
Dr. Malone further stated on social media that HHS had disbanded ACIP entirely.
Dr. Malone subsequently retracted this claim, stating it was a “miscommunication.”
Andrew Nixon | HHS Spokesperson
“Unless officially announced by us, any assertions about what we are doing next is baseless speculation.”
Dr. Joseph Hibbeln | ACIP Member
“It is good that Dr. Malone wishes now to decrease drama. This contrasts with his prior dramatic and confusing statements.”
The chair noted the resignation for the record.
VI.Acting CDC Director’s Statement
Jay Bhattacharya | Acting CDC Director
“I think it is vital that every kid in this country get the measles vaccine. Absolutely vital.”
This is the first such unequivocal endorsement of childhood vaccination from a senior Trump administration health official.
The committee noted the statement. No member seconded it.
VII.Legal Update
Counsel advised the committee of the following pending actions:
Judge Murphy's ruling that ACIP reconstitution violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
The ruling that committee members were not “fairly balanced” as required by law.
All previous votes (vaccine schedule, hepatitis B, COVID-19) are void.
Counsel recommended the committee refrain from additional votes pending appeal.
Motion
The committee voted to refrain from additional votes.
(This vote may also be invalid.)
VIII.Cultural Note
For the Record
Saturday Night Live aired a sketch titled “MAHAspital” on March 22, 2026, depicting a hospital operating under MAHA principles.
The sketch featured Dr. Harry Styles ordering “beef tallow and six raw eggs, stat” and Health Secretary Kennedy preparing a dead bear “for jerky.”
The committee does not endorse this portrayal. The committee does not endorse anything at this time, as its legal authority to endorse is disputed.
IX.Adjournment
Motion to adjourn. The motion carried.
The next meeting date has not been scheduled, pending resolution of the committee's legal existence.
